Using the Scheme
After you apply and have been accepted as an interim participant in the Scheme, we will pay for the treatment, rehabilitation and care related to your motor accident or workplace accident injuries for the first two years.
Towards the end of that two years you will be assessed to see if you are eligible to become a lifetime participant.
For information about how to become a participant in the Scheme, see How to apply.
Generally, hospital staff will contact us while you're still in their care if they think you might be eligible for the Scheme. We will then assign you a LTCS Coordinator who will be your main point of contact at the Lifetime Care and Support Authority.
They will:
- make contact with you and discuss our services and the support we provide
- provide information about eligibility and how to apply
- coordinate injury-related services (like rehab or attendant care).
- and help plan any return to school, leisure activities or work
You can also make contact with us by calling 13 22 81.
When you are ready to leave hospital, your treating team will develop a plan and request the services you may need to help you live at home and participate in your community (like rehabilitation, attendant care, equipment, or home modifications).
Your coordinator will then work with you to make sure you get the services you need.
