Lifetime Care and Support Scheme

The ACT Lifetime Care and Support Scheme is a no-fault insurance scheme that ensures that Canberrans who are catastrophically injured in a motor vehicle accident or a workplace accident, can manage their ongoing care needs into the future.

Under this scheme, ACT motorists and private sector workers needing lifetime care as a result of a catastrophic injury, have the opportunity to access a scheme that provides long-term care and support.

The scheme aims to transform the way the ACT community supports people with an acquired disability, their families and carers. It is a companion scheme to the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and some people may be eligible for both schemes because of their needs following a catastrophic injury.
