Making an application under the MAI Scheme
If you have been injured in a motor accident on or after 1 February 2020, you can make an application for personal injury benefits under the Motor Accident Injuries Scheme. Your MAI insurer can assist you with information on making an application.
You can also access a Defined Benefit Information Service provides a free advice and information service for people on accessing the defined benefits available to them under the Motor Accident Injuries scheme.
Making a application on behalf of someone who has died following a motor accident
If someone has died from injuries sustained in an accident, an MAI insurer can pay for funeral expenses and death benefits to support dependants. It does not matter who was at fault in the accident. Find about more about making an application.
