The business case process is used by the ACT public service to bring project proposals, requests for funding, and ideas to the ACT Government for consideration.
Please choose the most relevant template for use, as contained within the different sections below. The templates are tailored to the nature of the proposal.
Please note that the links for templates will take you to the Cabinet Submission resources site or to the Finance and Budget Group (Treasury) budget officer’s SharePoint site. The Business Case templates are found in the section Budget Rules, Templates and General Training in the relevant financial year folder.
What are you requiring?
- Approval for the underpinning strategy of a package of projects such a Precinct or Programme. The proposal should not include any request for capital works funding and must include the relevant sections from the Capital Framework including a certified Investment Logic Map. Please use the Cabinet Submission template.
- Project development funding (including requests for provisioned funding) of over $2 million for a capital works project. The funding is intended for preparatory work up to and including Preliminary Sketch Plan. It must include the relevant sections from the Capital Framework including a certified Investment Logic Map. Please use the Cabinet Submission template.
- Project development funding (including requests for provisioned funding) less than $2 million for a capital works project. The funding is intended for preparatory work up to and including Preliminary Sketch Plan. It must include the relevant sections from the Capital Framework including a certified Investment Logic Map. Please use the Budget Non-Capital Business Case template.
- Project delivery funding (including requests for provisioned funding) of over $5 million for a capital works project. The funding is intended to commence the delivery of the project post development of the Preliminary Sketch Plans. It must include the relevant sections from the Capital Framework and a certified Investment Logic Map in line with the Tier Assessment process. Please use the Budget Capital Business Case Template.
- Project delivery funding (including requests for provisioned funding) of under $5 million for a capital works project. The funding is intended to commence the delivery of the project post development of the Preliminary Sketch Plans. Please use the Budget Non-Capital Business Case Template.
