Capital works by Government priority
The Government’s $1.7 billion Capital Works Program for the four years to 2020-21 helps deliver services across the entire range of government priorities .
The priorities classification identifies projects by their primary priority. However, most projects support multiple priorities. For example, the light rail project helps build a better city through enhanced public transport facilities, with flow on benefits in more and better jobs, as well as better services through the delivery of a modern, integrated public transport system.
The Capital Works Program supports the Government’s priorities in the following areas:
- Building a better city ($452 million, or 27 per cent of the $1.7 billion total funding for the four years to 2020-21);
- Better services in your community ($353 million, or 21 per cent);
- Better support when it matters ($341 million, or 20 per cent);
- Better care when you need it ($262 million, or 15 per cent);
- Better schools for our kids ($209 million, or 12 per cent); and
- More and better jobs ($90 million, or 5 per cent).
