ACT Election Commitment Costings 2024

The Election Commitments Costing Act 2012 specifies the circumstances and arrangements under which the Director-General of the ACT Treasury Directorate (i.e. the Under Treasurer) may be requested to cost party election commitments before and after polling day for an ACT Legislative Assembly election. More detail in relation to procedural arrangements and timeframes are provided in the Guidelines for Costing Election Commitments 2024 [PDF 388KB].

As outlined in section 6 of the Election Commitment Costing Act 2012, by providing written advice to the Under Treasurer, a party may withdraw a costing request at any time prior to the party being provided with a copy of the costing.

As outlined in section 9(5) of the Election Commitment Costing Act 2012, any costing request made before polling day that has not been costed and made publicly available before polling day is also taken to be withdrawn on polling day.

Consistent with the Guidelines for Costing Election Commitments 2024, and with a view to allowing the public scrutiny of costings, parties are advised that it will likely not be practicable to cost election commitment costing requests received by the Under Treasurer later than Friday 11 October 2024. Costing requests unable to be completed will be reflected as withdrawn on the ACT Government Election Commitment Costing website.
