Infrastructure Investment Program

2026-27 Budget

The Government is continuing to invest in the infrastructure Canberra needs to support a growing population, including once-in-a-generation investments in health, education and transport infrastructure.

As part of a long-term, multi-decade approach to infrastructure planning, the IIP is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure investment remains aligned with population growth, service demand, and broader economic and environmental objectives.   The Program also reflects the scale and complexity of delivering major infrastructure over multiple years, with careful management of financial commitments to ensure affordability and fiscal sustainability.

The IIP forecasts expenditure of $1.1 billon in 2026-27 and $7.5 billon over the five years to 2030-31. The five year program includes $5.05 billion investment in General Government Sector (GGS) and $2.4 billion by Public Trading Enterprises (PTEs).
