Government priority
The Government’s $1.7 billion Capital Works Program for the four years to 2021 22 helps deliver services across the entire range of government priorities.
The priorities classification identifies projects by their primary priority. However, most projects support multiple priorities. For example, the light rail project helps build a better city through enhanced public transport facilities, with flow on benefits in more and better jobs, as well as better services through the delivery of a modern, integrated public transport system.
The Capital Works Program supports the Government’s priorities in the following areas:
- More services for our suburbs ($396 million, or 23 per cent);
- More schools, better schools ($284 million, or 17 per cent);
- Better healthcare for a growing community ($281 million, or 17 per cent);
- More support for families and inclusion ($261 million, or 16 per cent);
- Keeping our growing city moving ($215 million, or 13 per cent);
- More jobs for our growing city ($163 million, or 10 per cent) and;
- Better Government ($85 million, or 5 per cent of the $1.7 billion total funding for the four years to 2021-22).
