Capital works by Government priority
The Government’s $1.6 billion Capital Works Program for the four years to 2021-22 helps deliver services across the entire range of government priorities .
The priorities classification identifies projects by their primary priority. However, most projects support multiple priorities. For example, the light rail project helps build a better city through enhanced public transport facilities, with flow on benefits in more and better jobs, as well as better services through the delivery of a modern, integrated public transport system.
The Capital Works Program supports the Government’s priorities in the following areas:
- More services for our suburbs ($347 million, or 21 per cent);
- More schools, better schools ($285 million, or 18 per cent);
- Better healthcare for a growing community ($268 million, or 16 per cent);
- More support for families and inclusion ($263 million, or 16 per cent);
- Keeping our growing city moving ($228 million, or 14 per cent);
- More jobs for our growing city ($159 million, or 10 per cent) and;
- Better Government ($80 million, or 5 per cent of the $1.6 billion total funding for the four years to 2021-22).
